Okay, that's it. I'm finally going to get serious about getting out of Google.

But rest assured....it has NOTHING to do with Google's ideology, LOL.

Been thinking the same thing. If I could find a cheap UPS, Apache is fairly easy to install and set up. Pay a little extra for a static IP address and a domain name and I'll host my own site.

You can try Bing instead. I don't use Google much anymore, and this is a better excuse to stay away.

Can anyone suggest a good pro-freedom email service? I've been using my work mail for everything, but it's branded gmail.

http:www.duckduckgo.com

Search engine without info gathering (except by the NSA, gathering everything everywhere from everyone).

I don't buy much firearm related anyway (money shortage) but as far as I'm concerned, "Too Big For Its Britches" Google has just deposited a large volume of fertilizer in its corporate pants.
I have shifted directly to Bing unless I can find a better choice out there.
As a test, in Bing Shopping, I typed "guns" in the search window. Volumes of selections were immediately available.
I have also deleted anything labeled Google off of my computer.

Google can kiss my buttplate. I'm gone.

I sent a service message to Google last night and changed my default search engine shortly thereafter. I have it set to Bing. We will have to see how it goes.

Bing does just fine on terms like "SKS"...tried it yesterday.

You have seen nothing yet. The sheeple will rally around anything that might be construed as self defense. They are cowards.

Try Ixquick.com

Or

Startpage.com

both are good, privacy oriented search engines, startpage uses google in its searches.

The more people use these alternatives instead of the popular common search engines like google and yahoo, the better.

ixquick. I changed my search engine to ixquick. The most private search engine around. Hope that you are feeling better. Knuck.

I was going to suggest ixquick (https://www.ixquick.com/eng/aboutixquick/), like the last two commenters. CASPIAN's founder, Katherine Albrecht, recommended it almost 2 years ago. I had been too lazy to make the move, but I'm doing it today. Albrecht also recommended startpage, but a quick check on it's main page showed that it is "enhanced by Google"

I use IXQUICK but the search results sometimes need to be supplemented by Bing or others.

I've been using gmail but I believe I'll go to a pay service and drop these people altogether.

They'll never miss me I'm sure but I will feel better. One more thing, I've notice that gmail seems to have an affinity for Thunderbird that also make me uncomfortable so I'm dumping it as well in favor of Evolution or Kmail.

Not that I'm a Google fan, but I just tried Google shopping for 5.56 suppressor and 5.56 ammo and it returned hits just fine.

Allrighty, all google related accounts deleted. The funny thing is, the cowards never asked me why. Most reputable companies want to know why someone suddenly leaves. Ah well, I feel better lol

http://yippy.com/ is another alternative search engine. Been trying it out for a month or so. Not bad so far; has some good features.
