Sigh! If only the hi-caps didn't jam quite so much. OTOH, some of those ppl in the theater survived because wannabe's often fixate on gear that looks cool and should work but doesn't. I'll stick with what has been proven to work -- 20 or 30 rd box mags.

The AMK drum mags seem to work pretty well, but I think they're the only ones that do.

Has anyone tried SureFire's 60 & 100-round box mags? I understand they feed FAR better than the drum, snail or beta mags, but the 100 (IMHO) is too damn long to shoot with in the prone. The 60rd is slightly narrower than two 30's side by side, which saves some space in the ammo vest, but so far they're all priced at $50-60 depending on where you look. Otherwise, they are at least the same quality as USGI 30rd mags. The 100 rd mag is $180, pouches range from $60-80 according to size.

If the reliability is solid, I'll prolly convert to using the 60's because in a protracted gunfight with a trained enemy, you want to minimize the number of times you're changing magazines (assuming you live that long).

But of course, suppressive fires are only one part of the equation. Fire and maneuver are of little effect without accuracy (practice, practice, practice!)!! Reliability of the gear is only a close second to the reliability of the operator.

Anyone that already has a surefire mag is welcome to drop me a line at my website, let me know how well the magazines work.
