Sorry folks, but my boat's dead in the water.

Regular readers of this blog will have noted that I've been struggling of late -- with the chronic indignities of health, with Churchill's black dog who just can't seem to be banished from this keyboard, and, unseen, with fewer resources to accomplish the tasks required by the smuggling campaign and the resistance to the new state laws in CT, NY, MD and CO -- but especially Connecticut. (I've already had to write off Colorado as beyond my means if I am to go to Connecticut.) While the same firm friends of this blog regularly send what they can, voluntary subscriptions from the vast majority of readers have fallen to just about zero. Conversely, my in-box has been full of sage advice on what I should be doing, without, of course, suggesting exactly where I am to get the resources to do it. It has been a very frustrating and dispiriting time, causing me to wonder if this is really what God has in mind for me. Seeking guidance, I've been reading in David's psalms this past week and I especially identify with the ones he wrote in caves while he was on the run from Saul.
Don't get the wrong impression, I'm not saying I'm quitting the struggle. I just need to take today off. Sorry.

Everyone needs a day of rest. Today is as good as any other, and maybe better.

Looking forward to tomorrow, or the next day even.

Tomorrow is Yom Kippur, the day of Atonement; a time for repentance and reflection. The Bible says we must afflict our souls on this day. We must also realize what we have done to our Saviour by our sins and what He did to atone for them. It is a time of regret and resolve. It is no coincidence that you feel the way you do today, and what you must do tomorrow: repent and resolve to obey your creator. And know this, that our feelings don't change the effectiveness of the Word, or what we are called to do, regardless of the results. I understand how you feel; been there, and prayed those Psalms of David to my Saviour when I was in Iraq. It was a dark time, but an intimate time with my Saviour. Whatever He calls you to do, be open to Him with all of your being.

God bless you.

God will step in if this is indeed his will. In the mean time, I'll put something together for you Mike.

Sir, you are an inspiration. Every time I come to your blog I wonder how you can keep providing the amount of content you do. You deserve some time off.

You said you're sorry>>>
"We don't NEED no steenkin' apologies!"
You have already done more than a lot of us will accomplish in a whole lifetime! One of the worst side-afflictions of depression is getting down on yourself for perceived shortcomings, and accusing oneself of weaknesses when no one else does. Take some time, don't feel enslaved to the blog or anything else. Christ has set you free! We are all praying for you, and you know how to reach me if you need to. God bless and keep you.

Mike, it's OK to take a vacation and unplug for a week or two. You're a font of historical information and great wisdom and you keep up with current events; it's a given you'll get mauled by that black dog every so often.

Do what you choose to do with what you have. No one will hold anything against you if you don't do more.

If your boat's dead in the water, break out a fishing pole and crack a cold one and relax a while.

Mike, take a breath and get some rest. Thank you for all you do in this fight.

I sent what I could, wish it could have been more. We need your help in CT.

I think you don't realize how much we appreciate all your efforts.

Everyone deserves a day off now and again. You more than deserve it for your fortitude in the face of all the trials of your life. Spend some time with the family, take a vacation and enjoy the things you've been blessed with.

Speaking of smuggling. I was at the Cabela's in Hamburg, Pa last weekend and I was amazed as to how many people where there from the socialist State of NY who were buying high cap mags of all sorts, collapsible stocks, hand grips for ARs, etc. . . a bunch of us from Central NY went there and it was well worth the 250 mile one-way trip....we felt free for a few hours.

I concur with all the other replies here Mike, take some time off, gather your thoughts and refresh yourself. The fight isn't supposed to be easy, or it would be called a fight.

everyone needs time off mike. You've gone above and beyond time and again, more so than most. I think we all feel overwhelmed by the amount of work it takes to try to get a society hell bent on self destruction back on course. I know that folks like you do get "re energized" quickly, like a fighter that only needs that one minute between rounds to come out the next round and really kick some butt...God bless you

If I were anywhere near as productive as you, I would tell you to take a day off now and then. You have no reason to listen to me, other than to know I too, suffer from entanglements of the old black dog.

Get some rest, and do not ever feel guilty about that rest.
