Looks like Chicago PD had a stingray out at the Eric Garner protest last night

Always nice to know what you're looking at. Hey, those things don't appear to be armored, do they? Hmmm.

The US government has taken the lead in improving technology to spy on and control its own citizens. Devices like the Stingray are the inevitable result, as is most of the other technology described on that excellent PrivacySOS site. And once such abominations are born, they spread around the world like a cancer.

Remember several months ago when someone said something about the US government destroying freedom around the world? It sure seemed to upset Herschel Smith:

Hmmm...maybe the US government's funding of all this domestic surveillance technology is one of the key ways it destroys freedom?

I have a VERY strong suspicion that ostensibly commercial projects such as the "Internet of Things" are actually partnerships with the US government to increase its surveillance capabilities even further.

If a device can be connected to a network, it can be used to spy on you. The only exceptions are if it has no battery (or other power source) in it and/or it's placed in a Faraday bag or similarly shielded container. Never, ever discuss secrets near a cell phone, laptop, or any other network-connectable device.

This is What Happens to a Disarmed Populace: They Get Stabbed On Trains

I'm looking forward to people realizing that Americans are already being intellectually disarmed -with that being the first step to total disarmament.

America isn't destroying freedom around the world. The corporation called the United States is. There's a very clear line of meaningful distinction between those two things.

You know what is destroying Liberty?
Idiocy. Intellectual dishonesty.

First, my greetings to all who post here. It's good to know there are men and women like myself who love this nation enough to put every thing on the line to keep her free.

Secondly, When i see articles like this, i kinda get a hard on. Why?

Maybe I'm alone on this, but every piece of tech or tool they throw out there is another lynchpin to be used to grind them down. I am of the Richard Marcinko frame of mind that ingenuity and personal initiative are vital to waging war . Just looking at this i can already conjure all the dirty nasty things i am capable of doing without ever having to pick a weapon up and fire it. Go ahead and send out your spiffy piece of gear. We will put it to good use.

Thirdly, Always remember the importance of Psy-Ops. Our enemies surely do.

Fourthly, start doing your intel work now. Every system has it's weaknesses. i'd merely like to point out that it stands out like a sore thumb and I'm pretty sure if someone really wanted to turn it into a flaming heap of taxpayer funded cannon- fodder it could not be that difficult of a challenge to surmount. The VC in me chuckles at their hubris. The poor bastards, they really think they are clever....

Clear violations of the 4A...and yet, no one will go to jail over it.

Pathetic.

Protesters need to start carrying HERF guns.

Agreed, and this has been the case for far too long.

For example, anyone who spends enough time on gun discussion boards such as AR15.com, The Firing Line, The High Road, etc., will notice that a lot of gun owners will say things like:

"I don't need a top-quality rifle. I'm just a civilian."

"The ammo shortage sucks, but it's probably because our troops are using so much of it overseas. They need it more than we do."

"Don't even think of doing XYZ modification to your rifle. It's illegal, and you'll end up with Bubba in Club Fed."

People who post (or think) such things have already been neutered as a result of their government-worship. They will be the first to turn in their guns when commanded by their masters.

"America isn't destroying freedom around the world. The corporation called the United States is. There's a very clear line of meaningful distinction between those two things."

It's the US government that's destroying freedom around the world -- and yes, it has close ties with the corporate world (especially the "defense" sector).

Most people use "America" and "the United States" interchangeably. I prefer to draw a distinction between the government and the country itself, even though much of the country supports the government's evils due to malice or ignorance.

A further distinction can be drawn between America as it currently exists, and America as it was meant to be. Our Founders intended us to be a union of independent states bonded by a limited central government and a dedication to individual liberty. What we have instead is a fascist police state.

That's a big part of it. One of the biggest problems is the way too many Americans deceive themselves and others into believing they're free when they are not.

This is closely tied to the problem of doublethink, which is the result of propaganda.

For example, most American "conservatives" support a strong standing army and have no issues with the astronomical funding it receives. Yet most of these same "conservatives," when asked to opine on the purpose of the Second Amendment, will tell you that it's about preventing tyranny.

These two views are logically incompatible, since the stronger the standing army, the weaker our Second Amendment protection against tyranny; standing armies are always the means by which tyranny is imposed. (This applies much less to the Navy and Air Force than to US infantry troops -- which is fortunate, since the Navy and Air Force are necessary for national security.)
