"Army's new camouflage uniforms hit stores July 1." Meanwhile, the National Guard is reported to be training against OPFOR dressed in a. ISIS black? b. Former East Bloc green? c. American Woodland? Yup, you guessed it.

The Army begins its transition to new combat uniforms in a month, the Army said Monday, but soldiers can expect a lot of mixing and matching of camo items for the next several years. The uniforms with the Army's new operational camouflage pattern — and nine design changes — are on track to start appearing in exchanges July 1. The uniform will become the new normal after a four-year transitional phase designed to save the Army and soldiers money.
You know, I have heard several reports that National Guard troops are now training against against OPFOR dressed in American Woodland, the predominant pattern of the American militia movement. Gee, I guess they view us as the enemy, huh?

Never fails. I finally get my four new uniforms, and they're outdated in a month. Your tax dollars at work folks.

Given your violent, anti-government rhetoric, is this really that surprising? You are conducting drills for violent confrontation against the government, I think it's only fair that they get to do the same (assuming your information is accurate and means what you think it does).

Or the guys running OPFOR realize that it's a superior system.

Only thing I could add to that is that they had BETTER see that, and they had best be changing their ways. Nobody wounds as deep, or as deadly, as family.

I have yet to see a guy wearing the new camo ... must be good.

Come CW3 you will be able to tell the bad guys from the good very easily. The bad guys will be the ones shooting at you.

Americans as enemy.... yup.

After all, they want to charge Snowden with treason, which is Constitutionally defined as aid and comfort to the enemy...

He gave the information to us...

So either we're the enemy or it isn't Constitutionally treason.

Or, they expect to be joining up with you in a post-EMP, post-apocalyptic North America. Not sure if they expect Iranians, North Koreans, zombies or space aliens.

Anonymous, the government has been showing us that it is the enemy of the people long before Mike showed up. WE'RE reacting to THEM.

Or, maybe OpFor are using Woodland for the same reason lots of militia types do.

It's cheap, readily available, and not a current issue pattern of the US Military. (the fact that some SOF overseas are authorized to use it in certain situations like embedding with foreign troops doesn't change that)

Frankly, most National Guard units probably have scads of Woodland and DCU uniforms and gear still on hand. Makes sense to use it for playing "not US troops" in excercises; it's already paid for and doesn't matter if they trash it.

Give it 5 years or so and UCP will be pulling similar duty with Guard or Reserve units, probably.
Given its terrible camouflage qualities during daylight, except when it's been dirtied up in the AO or treated with fabric dye, I doubt it'll be the pattern of choice for prepared citizens, militia, etc. except as cheap "beater" clothing to wear during training without fear of wrecking a useful item. (UCP/ACU is, however, surprisingly good against NVG and this doesn't seem to be harmed by dyeing them)

would (or could if not anon) you site your sources for vetting on the OPFOR camo claim?

when I was assigned to the 2nd ACR at Ft. Polk LA, we were OPFOR. We went to the supply warehouse on base and were issued two sets of woodland camo that were dyed black. More than one soldier were left in garrison after reporting to our aid station with back reactions to the dye. the army and guard have hundreds of thousands of old uniforms in the supply chain to be used for training. I think perhaps this is much ado about nothing?

Getting harder and harder to find woodland camo in thrift stores. Guess now I know who's buying.

@ anonymous, "Given your violent, anti-government rhetoric, is this really that surprising?"

What we have is a Constitutional Republic. People who SERVE WITHIN THE SPECIFIC BRANCHES HAVE DUTIES AND AUTHORITY THAT IS ATTACHED/ASSIGNED TO THAT BRANCH. The people elected, hired, contracted, vounteer, etc take a lawfully binding Oath to support & defend (US Presidents - Preserve, Protect, & Defend) the US Constitution. Not keeping the Oath is a felony, and Perjury; plus then person who broke the contract no longer meets the requirements of the position that they occupy.

These comments from OUR past might help you to understand OUR government better. J. Reuben Clark: “God provided that in this land of liberty, our political allegiance shall run NOT to individuals, that is, to government officials, no matter how great or how small they may be. Under His plan OUR ALLEGIANCE and the only allegiance we owe as citizens or denizens of the United States, RUNS TO OUR INSPIRED CONSTITUTION which God himself set up. SO RUNS THE OATH OF OFFICE OF THOSE WHO PARTICIPATE IN GOVERNMENT. A certain loyalty we do owe to the office which a man holds, but even here we owe just by reason of our citizenship, NO LOYALTY TO THE MAN HIMSELF. In other countries it is to the individual that allegiance runs. This principle of allegiance to the Constitution is basic to our freedom. It is one of the great principles that distinguishes this “land of liberty” from other countries”.

Ronald Reagan: “I had a copy of the Soviet Constitution and I read it with great interest... I began to wonder about the other constitutions... and our own, and why so much emphasis on ours... the answer was very simple - that’s why you don’t notice it at first. But it is so great that it tells the entire difference. All those other constitutions are documents that say, ‘We, the government, allow the people the following rights,’ and our Constitution says ‘WE THE PEOPLE, allow the government the following privileges and rights.’ We give our permission to government to do the things that it does. And that’s the whole story of the difference..”.

Abraham Lincoln: “We, the people, are the rightful masters of both congress and the courts - not to overthrow the constitution, but to overthrow MEN who pervert the Constitution”

James Madison: “The ultimate authority resides in the people, and that if the federal government got too powerful and overstepped its authority, then the people would develop plans of resistance and resort to arms.”

Mark Twain: “The government is merely a servant, merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn’t. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.”

Consider this Opinion in Mack and Printz v. United States: “The Framers rejected the concept of a central government that would act upon and through the States, and instead designed a system in which the State and Federal Governments would exercise concurrent authority over the people. The Federal Government’s power would be augmented immeasurably and impermissibly if it were able to impress into its service–and at no cost to itself–the police officers of the 50 States… Federal control of state officers would also have an effect upon the separation and equilibration of powers between the three branches of the Federal Government itself.”

Hope this helps you to understand that replacing the people who usurp power while serving by whatever means necesary is NOT "violent, anti-government rhetoric" but restoring our Legitimate government.

OPFOR (Opposing Forces) have used Camies for over a decade, they've just inverted the tops. Different OPFOR have different uniforms...some of the training I participated in still had roll players in Kosovo attire...that doesn't mean we were going back to Kosovo!

To the person who said the below:

"Given your violent, anti-government rhetoric, is this really that surprising? You are conducting drills for violent confrontation against the government, I think it's only fair that they get to do the same (assuming your information is accurate and means what you think it does)."

1. When the government has become a tyranny
2. When they take all our money for taxes
3. When they use the coerced money that is taken by threat of force to enslave us and for detestable purposes
4. When the only fear we have is that the government will attack us because we speak out about the injustice and tyranny
5. When the Bill of Rights has been trampled and thrown on the floor
6. When the Constitution has been undermined and twisted and used to allow the Federal Govt to build a police state
7. When God has been thrown down and satanic ideals and images take His place.

WE WILL RESIST.

I used to wear woodland camo but have transitioned to Tiger Stripe and then, recently, to all black.
